Pool Opens

The pool has been opened here at Les Courrieres and is already a good temperature of 20 degrees as we discovered during the warm weather last week. A new pergola has been installed and new covers for the loungers. The furniture is all in place and a new grill has been situated at the pool BBQ. The garden, after tending for 3 years has now become established and is a relaxing area to enjoy a chilled glass of wine.

Talking of wine, we are in the process of bottling our very own Pineau which is a gloriously rich tasting apperitif typical of this region. The Eau de vie has been returned to us after distilling and is a beautiful fig but extremely alcoholic digestif. Lots of fun was had last year when we picked all of the grapes and plucked the figs from the fig trees in the gite garden and that of the main house.

The woodburners are alight!

In the evenings here in France, it can become quite cold - not for those in our Gite though because the woodburner is throwing out so much heat the guests have left their front door open to cool down the lounge! Unlike in many French gites, the woodman (Richard)ensures that the gite is kept well-stocked with wood and, of course, there is no extra charge for the wood.

The gite is now updated with internet

After consultation with our IT experts they have now reconfigured the system here at Les Courrieres which means that all of our guests can now access the internet from the comfort of the gite. This new technology involves connection through electrical wiring which ensures perfect reception despite the thick stone walls!
